Anritsu Introduces Cost-Efficient, High-Performance Signal Analyzers That Fill Market Void For Narrowband Applications
Signal Analyzer MS2840A Series Now Features Models that Support 9 kHz to 3.6 GHz, 6 GHz, and 26.5 GHz with Superior SSB Phase Noise Compared to Competitive Instruments
Anritsu Company expands its Signal Analyzer MS2840A family with the introduction of three models that support the 9 kHz to 3.6 GHz, 6 GHz, and 26.5 GHz frequencies. With the new instruments, Anritsu fills a market void for cost-efficient, high-performance signal analyzers that address the middle frequency ranges, providing an economical solution to accurately measure wireless equipment, oscillators and other components for narrowband applications, land mobile radio, wireless backhaul, radar and automobile electronics.
The Signal Analyzer MS2840A models feature excellent standard carrier close-in SSB phase noise performance of –123 dBc/Hz at a measurement frequency of 1 GHz and an offset frequency of 10 kHz. Dedicated options for the 3.6-GHz and 6-GHz models enhance performance to –133 dBc/Hz at a measurement frequency of 500 MHz and offset frequency of 10 kHz, an order of magnitude better than more expensive models. This high performance provides sufficient margin for accurate evaluation of spurious and phase noise of oscillators designed in wired and wireless equipment. Additionally, the 3.6-GHz and 6-GHz models can be configured with an internal signal generator to support output of both digital and analog modulation signals for an all-in-one platform to evaluate wireless TRx signals.
Standard built-in signal analyzer functions in the Signal Analyzer MS2840A series support versatile measurements, including instantaneous spectrum observation, Frequency vs Time, Phase Variation vs Time, and Spectrogram displays. Both digital and analog wireless modulation signals can be evaluated by installing vector modulation signal analysis software, analog measurement software, as well as amplifier noise figure (NF) measurement functions into the Signal Analyzer MS2840A family.
The three new models expand the Signal Analyzer MS2840A series, which also includes an instrument that covers 9 kHz to 44.5 GHz. The Signal Analyzer MS2840A platform has standard built-in functions for efficient measurement of Tx characteristics, including spurious, adjacent channel leakage power, spectrum mask, and frequency count. The versatile measurement platform of the Signal Analyzer MS2840A makes it well suited for developing and manufacturing wireless equipment and devices.
Connecting the 26.5-GHz or 44.5-GHz model to an Anritsu High Performance Waveguide Mixer, such as the MA2806A (50 GHz – 75 GHz) or the MA2808A (60 GHz – 90 GHz), or an external mixer (≤325 GHz) expands the measurement frequency range easily and leverages the inherent excellent sensitivity and dynamic range of the Signal Analyzer MS2840A series. This configuration supports wide-dynamic-range measurements, as well as eliminates image-response effects when measuring wideband signals to implement efficient measurement for millimeter-wave wideband wireless equipment, such as wireless backhaul, automobile radar, and WiGig. It also allows for accurate evaluation of side-lobe characteristics of millimeter-wave radar antennas requiring high sensitivity.
