Q-Band TWT Amplifiers And Microwave Power Modules Still Best Solution For Defense Satellite Applications

The Q-Band faces an identity crisis. While it’s not officially recognized by IEEE or ITU, it’s the most widely used band for many applications, including satellite communications, terrestrial microwave communications, radio astronomy studies and automotive radars.
Fortunately, the Q-Band is recognized by ISO as the frequency range from 36 to 46 GHz. This frequency band lies between the IEEE Ka-Band (26.5–40 GHz) and V-Band (40–75 GHz). Since the frequency range of the Q-Band is higher than the Ka-Band, applications using this band can be designed to have higher throughput and use smaller components.
